Drop the Rock Needs a New Name!
We are gearing up to start advocating for our expanded criminal justice reform platform aimed at reducing incarceration and prison capacity in New York. A strong and meaningful name will help us gain support and recognition as we move forward with our campaign. We would like to get your ideas for a new name for Drop the Rock. Here is an outline of the issues our coalition will advocate for:
- Repeal the Rockefeller Drug Law
- Increase use of Work Release
- Decrease Rate of Reincarceration for Technical Parole Violations
- Increase Rate at which People in Prison are Granted Parole
- Expand Merit Time Eligibility
- Close Underutilized Prisons
- Reinvest Savings into Alternative, Reentry, Prevention and In-Prison Programs
